Tour of the Temples of Dendera and Abydos
After picking you up from your hotel, your expert Egypt holiday tour guide will drive you in a private air-conditioned vehicle towards Abydos, located north of Luxor. You’ll spend an unforgettable day exploring two of Egypt's most complete temples.
Temple of Abydos
In Abydos, we will visit the famous temple built by Seti I in honor of Osiris. This temple features scenes from the lives of Seti I and Ramses II, as well as the renowned royal list of 77 Egyptian kings, ranging from Mena to Seti I himself. Abydos was one of the most important religious centers in ancient Egypt, known for its pilgrimage significance. The mysteries of Osiris, including rituals of death and resurrection, were reenacted here.
Dendera Temple
The Temple of Dendera is dedicated to the goddess Hathor, and its construction began during the reign of Nectanebo I and continued into the Roman period. The temple includes twelve ornate crypts, two colonnaded halls, and two funerary chapels. The “towers” housed in the Louvre museum originate from one of these chapels. After your visit to Dendera, where the temple of Isis is also located, you will return to Luxor.
