Cairo Day Tour to the Pyramids of Memphis, Saqqara, and Dahshur
In the morning, we will pick you up from your hotel in a private, air-conditioned vehicle to begin your exciting tour.
Saqqara Pyramid
Our first stop will be Saqqara, a significant pyramidal complex and part of the Memphis necropolis, much like Giza. Here, we will explore one of the earliest pyramids ever constructed, which served as a model for later structures. The Step Pyramid of Djoser, standing at 60 meters tall, was part of a ceremonial complex built around 2650 BC for Pharaoh Djoser by Imhotep, the renowned Egyptian architect.
After visiting Saqqara, we’ll stop for lunch at a local restaurant.
Lunch
Following the visit to the Pyramids of Saqqara, we will take a break for lunch at a local restaurant, offering authentic Egyptian cuisine (drinks not included).
Ancient Memphis, Egypt
Next, we will head to Memphis, the capital of the ancient Egyptian empire from 3100 to 2040 BC and the site of all the coronations of the pharaohs. According to tradition, Narmer, the first pharaoh, founded Memphis. The city lies in the Nile Delta between Upper and Lower Egypt. In 1820, a colossal statue of Ramses II was discovered in the Great Temple of Ptah near Memphis. This statue, made of pink granite, is over 11 meters tall and weighs more than 80 tons. It was moved to Memphis for protection after it suffered damage in Cairo due to erosion.
Curved Pyramid
After exploring Memphis, we will visit Dahshur, a more secluded area south of Giza. This location is home to two impressive pyramids. The Curved Pyramid, built by Sneferu, is 90 meters tall and the fourth largest pyramid in Egypt. It marks an important phase in pyramid construction.
Red Pyramid
Nearby, we will visit the Red Pyramid, which stands 105 meters tall. This pyramid represents a significant evolution in pyramid design, transitioning from a stepped pyramid like that of Djoser at Saqqara to the smooth-sided pyramids seen later in Egyptian history. The pyramid’s entrance is made from red granite.
After completing the tour, we will return you to your hotel in Cairo.
