Tour of the Pyramids of Dahshur and Saqqara from Alexandria Port

You will be picked up from your hotel in Cairo and transferred to Dahshur.

• Begin your tour with a visit to the Red Pyramid, named for the color of its stones. This pyramid, built during the reign of Pharaoh Sneferu (the father of Khufu), is one of the first true pyramids of ancient Egypt.

• Continue to the Bent Pyramid, considered the first true pyramid because it represents a significant shift in pyramid design. Until this point, pyramids had been stepped structures.

• Afterward, head to Saqqara to explore the Step Pyramid, the most prominent structure in the Saqqara necropolis, located south of Memphis. This pyramid, built by Pharaoh Djoser, is considered the prototype for the later pyramids of Giza.

• Enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant.

• Conclude your day with a visit to the Giza Plateau to see one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Great Pyramid of Khufu (Cheops), built for King Khufu. Also explore the other pyramids at Giza: the Pyramid of Khafre, attributed to King Khafra (son of Khufu), and the Pyramid of Menkaure, the smallest of the three, built for King Menkaure (son of Khafra and grandson of Khufu). Visit the iconic Sphinx, with its lion’s body and pharaoh’s head, and the Temple of the Valley, located next to the Pyramid of Khafre.
