Itinerary
Cairo Tour
In the morning, your professional tour guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel in a private, air-conditioned vehicle to begin your exciting day of exploration.
Prince Muhammad Ali Palace (Manual Palace)
First, visit the Prince Muhammad Ali Palace, built by one of Egypt’s most prominent figures. This magnificent palace, now a museum, consists of six distinct buildings: the Reception Palace, Clock Tower, Mosque, Hunting Museum, Presidential Palace, and Private Museum. It is beautifully decorated and surrounded by lush gardens, offering a glimpse into Egypt's royal past.
Garbage City in Cairo
Next, you'll visit Garbage City, located in the Mokattam Mountain. This area, excavated in 1976, is home to the largest church in Egypt and the Middle East, which hosts 20,000 people every Sunday. As you pass through Zabbaleen, a district dedicated to waste management, you will witness the daily life of Cairo's garbage collectors. The area may have a strong smell, but it offers a truly authentic experience. From the top of Mokattam Mountain, enjoy a stunning panoramic view of Cairo.
City of the Dead
Then, you’ll explore the City of the Dead, a unique site where people live among the graves. In this cemetery-like neighborhood, the tombs resemble homes, and the inhabitants have made this place their living community. It offers a fascinating insight into Cairo’s unusual history and culture.
Baron Empain Palace
For architecture enthusiasts, Baron Empain Palace is a must-see. Built in Hindu-style concrete and inspired by Angkor Wat, this remarkable palace offers stunning views of Cairo. Designed by a French architect for a Belgian industrialist involved in Egypt’s railway project, the palace is surrounded by intriguing stories, including claims that the Baron still haunts the place.
Lunch
After visiting these historical sites, we’ll stop for a relaxing lunch at a local restaurant, where you can enjoy delicious Egyptian food (drinks not included).
Islamic Quarter
Next, explore the Islamic Quarter, particularly Al-Muizz Street, one of Cairo's most historic districts. Here, you’ll find mosques, Islamic schools, palaces, and hammams that reflect Cairo’s rich Islamic heritage.
Khan El Khalili Bazaar
End your tour with a visit to Khan El Khalili Bazaar, Cairo’s vibrant and bustling market. This famous market is always teeming with locals and tourists, offering everything from spices and textiles to intricate local handicrafts. It’s the perfect place to pick up a souvenir and experience the lively atmosphere of Cairo.
